Vietnam, 02. – 06. July 2018: IHK Business Delegation in the field of automobile industry and machine engineering

GIC/AHK Vietnam will host a delegation on automobile industry and machine engineering from Baden-Wuerttemberg state in July 2018. The highlights of the business trip are the meetings for every individual participant with German and local suitable partners in Hanoi and in Ho Chi Minh City as well as the B2B networking and experiences exchange events.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE YEAR 2017

GIC/AHK Vietnam is the representative office of Baden-Württemberg in Vietnam since July 2017

This representative office promotes contact between entrepreneurs from Baden-Württemberg and Vietnam and establishes relationships between potential investors and trading partners. Through these processes interested enterprises are supplied with all necessary information about Baden-Württemberg and Vietnam as business and investment locations.

Mr. Marko Walde, Chief Representative of the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam has been unanimously elected by the GBA Board to be the GBA Chairman in March 2017, in succession of Mr. Jens Ruebbert after he took up his new role as Chairman of the European Chamber of Commerce.

Vietnamese Government extends visa-exemption policy for German citizens

The Government has agreed to extend the visa exemption policy for citizens from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. The policy, which ends on June 30 this year, will be extended until June 30 2018. Accordingly, citizens from the above-mentioned countries will not have to apply for visa if their stay in Việt Nam does not exceed 15 days.

This is the second time the Government has extended the policy which took effect from July 1, 2015. More details in English >>> and in German >>>


Vietnam to grant e-visas to citizens of 40 countries, including GERMANY starting Feb 1, 2017

According to Decree 07/2017-NĐ-CP, 25 Jan 2017, procedures for applying and payment will be done online. It will take 3 days to process applications for an e-visa valid for 30 days. The visa does not require letters of guarantee or invitation.

Foreign citizens can access the websites https://www.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/en_US/  to apply for e-visas.

Work permit for foreigners granted online in Vietnam

Companies in Việt Nam who wish to employ foreign employees can now apply for work permits online. The Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs started this from Monday, 02nd October 2017, via an electronic network. Applicants can access dvc.vieclamvietnam.gov.vn (english version will be available soon) to apply for a work permit. More here >>>

Law on support of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) was passed by the National Assembly

SMEs will have many assistances and incentives provided by the Vietnamese government and they could come in the form of bank loan, corporate income tax, land, technology, training, consulting, procurement or human resource development. This law will come into effect from January 01, 2018.

German-Vietnamese Business Forum in Berlin

On the occasion of the visit to Germany by Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, Prime Minister of Vietnam, a German-Vietnamese Business Forum was held in Berlin. During the event, Vietnamese representatives provided information on the latest economic policy measures and, together with German representatives from the public and private sector, discussed the potential for further cooperation projects.

More than 600 people representing German and Vietnamese firms have participated in this forum.

ASEAN Breakfast in Shanghai, China

A panel discussion with the 4 panelists – 4 AHK chief delegates from Vietnam, Philippine, Singapore and Indonesia – covered a wide range of ASEAN topics and the key question was whether ASEAN provides the possibility of optimizing German companies’ value chains that are now active in China and whether ASEAN gives an attractive complement to the Chinese market. Following the presentations and a brief but lively Q&A round, the ASEAN Breakfast offered well-fed participants a chance to stretch their legs and partake in our exclusive one-on-one consultations with the ASEAN experts.

Meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador in Germany and Vice minister of the Bavarian Ministry of Economics

A great opportunity for Vietnam to promote its image in Bavaria during this meeting in Coburg. Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam has met and talked with Vietnamese Ambassador on the future cooperation on purpose of promoting German-Vietnam business relationship in both 2 countries. 



Matchmaking Events in Germany

Bjoern Koslowski, Deputy Chief Representative, GIC/AHK Vietnam visited many German companies during his business trip in different cities such as Kassel, Dortmund, Hannover, Kiel, Regensburg, Passau, Karlsruhe and Freiburg.

Information on Vietnam potential market and investment conditions/environment is provided by us to German firms as well as our own individual tips and hints for companies if they intend to do business in Vietnam. Most of companies were interested in EU-Vietnam FTA details and its implementation. They are really impressed the Vietnam’s government encourage in the global integration process. 

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

Hamburg Delegation in Vietnam

In November 2017, Hamburg Delegation headed by Senator Frank Horch, Minister of Economy, Transport and Innovation visited Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.  . During this visit, Senator Horch witnessed the MOU signing ceremony between SBIC and Maritime Cluster North Germany for the future cooperation and technology transfer and met Vietnamese Maritime Administration (Vinamarine), Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC) and MOIT in Hanoi.

This visit created the hope to maximize the opportunity to exchange information, share ideas and enhance the business relationships between Vietnam and Germany. More here >>>


VDMA Delegation on machinery for metal production and processing

From November 27 – December 01, GIC/AHK Vietnam hosted a delegation on machinery organized by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and German Industry and Commerce Vietnam in cooperation with VDMA Metallurgy.

The program includes an all-day technical conference, a B2B networking event and company visiting in both Hanoi and HCMC.  The journey will be framed by a joint framework program with visiting the trade show VIMM 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City as well as a roundtable with the involvement of the German embassy, GIC/AHKVietnam and GBA. 


The first German Solar Training Week in Vietnam

Over 50 representatives, namely project developers and engineering service companies, from the Vietnamese solar sector participate in the first German Solar Training Week in HCM City from 18th to 21th September, organized by GIZ's Project Development Programme (PDP) in cooperation with the German Industry and Commerce Vietnam (GIC/AHK Vietnam) and the Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock company 3 (EVN PECC3) on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) within the German Energy Solutions Initiative framework. Vietnamese – German Conference „Photovoltaic: Utility Scale PV and Embedded Generation in Vietnam's Industry”


The conference, held by German and Vietnamese expert-speakers, covered the legal framework and requirements concerning solar energy in Vietnam and give insights and testimonials about German products and services for the solar energy sector. More than 200 attendants, including ministries, institutes and companies had met the speakers and network with representatives of German companies from the solar energy sector.

GTAI Delegation Vietnam facilitates German partnership with local firms

AHK Vietnam and MoFA organized a workshop Meet Germany 2017 in HCMC with the participation of Iris Gleicke, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, 20 German enterprises, German consulate, representatives of HCM City, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Long An and Binh Duong. On this occasion, Vietnam provided the German companies with updates on public administration reforms, including the application of information technology and 7-day service for granting an investment license.



German Meat Delegation - Reception and Networking

German Industry and Commerce Vietnam (GIC/AHK) in collaboration with German Meat, the joint export promotion organization of the German meat industry organized a networking event on 25 April at Reverie Saigon Hotel. The event would bring great opportunities for bilateral partners in developing future relationships, creating business contacts and meeting potential with representatives of leading meat producers.

ENGAGEMENT WITH THE PUBLIC SECTOR AND OTHER POLITICAL ORGANIZATIONS


Meeting with Danang Investment Promotion Agency (IPA Danang) for trading and investment promotion

Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK and Chairman of GBA, visited Danang Investment Promotion Agency (IPA Danang) and had a meeting with Le Canh Duong, Director of IPA Danang. Mr Duong informed the GIC/AHK delegation on the investment incentives of Danang City as well as on the investment environment and business conditions. Marko Walde confirmed that German investors in Danang are really happy here and they really appreciated the great support from the Danang People Committee as well as the learn willingness and good attitude of the local workforce in Central Vietnam.   


Visiting Nghe An Province and screening the investment opportunities for German and Japanese companies

Marko Walde, Chief Representative of GIC/AHK Vietnam, Chairman of GBA Vietnam has visited Nghe An Province and had a meeting with Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh, provincial party committee secretary, Mr Le Ngoc Hoa, vice chairman of Nghe An people committee as well as representatives from the related departments and companies.  Mr. Nguyen Dac Vinh informed the delegation of German and Japanese companies on the investment environment and business conditions in this province, which is the largest province in Vietnam.

 Marko Walde confirmed his intention to know more about Nghe An and to promote Nghe An to the German investors. A representative of Japanese company - Shimizu - is now looking for an investment opportunities and to bring more Japanese FDI investors to Nghe An. Infrastructure and the IZ infrastructure need to be improved on purpose of attracting more international investors, including German and Japanese ones.

Meeting with Hue People Committee


GIC/AHK Vietnam, German Embassy and other German organizations have met Nguyen Van Cao, Chairman of Hue People Committee in February 2017 at the office of the provincial People's Committee. The purpose is to have discussion with provincial leaders to expand the friendly cooperation relation between Germany and Vietnam as well as localities in Vietnam. In introducing development potential, investment attraction category and policies of Thua Thien Hue province, Chairman of provincial People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Van Cao wished to see effort in introducing business and investors in Germany to come to study as well as seek for investment development in Thua Thien Hue province.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING HIGHLIGHTS


Signing cooperation contract in training mechatronics and industrial mechanic with VINFAST

On 27th October 2017, German Industry and Commerce Vietnam and VINFAST signed the vocational training contract in those 2 sectors in VinGroup headquarter in Hanoi, Vietnam. VINFAST is our first local company in Vietnam in this dual vocational training program, after some German key players, such as BOSCH VIETNAM, B.BRAUN or MESSER GAS VIETNAM.

We believe that by successfully completing the program, our apprentices – VINFAST workforces are capable of taking up specialist and afterwards managerial positions at VINFAST manufacturing plants in the future. This signing contract event and this cooperation mark an important milestone in the VINFAST’s commitment to help develop a highly-skilled technical workforce in Vietnam. More here >>>

Signing ceremony: MoU for Training Cooperation Between GIC/AHK Vietnam, Vocational Board for Logistics and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport


On 27th May 2017 at the HCMC University of Transport, German Industry and Commerce Vietnam (GIC/AHK Vietnam), Vocational Board for Logistics consisting of nine international logistics companies, and Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport signed the MoU for the implementation of the Dual Vocational Training program in Freight Forwarding according to the German DIHK Standard.

Besides the signing ceremony, the international logistics companies introduced their companies to the best students of the logistics faculty of the HCMC University of Transport and directly started with the recruitment process. About 15 students get the chance to work directly in the logistics companies to receive practical experiences, which takes 50% of the total training time, during 3 years of dual vocational training program beginning in this September 2017. 

Experiences exchange and networking event for German dual vocational training in freight forwarding and logistics agent

GIC/AHK Vietnam organized a seminar “Experiences exchange and networking event for German dual vocational training in freight forwarding and logistics agent” from 6 to 10 November 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City. The seminar created a platform for all participants for networking and experience exchange with German experts. During the seminar, our German experts shared their practical experience on dual vocational training program according to German standards to all participants. An exciting part of this seminar was the company visit one, where the experts could advise on-site on the planning process and the implementation of dual vocational training programs in details.

1st Call-up Vocational Board for Logistics


On 05th May 2017 the GIC/AHK Vietnam has call-up the first Vocational Board (VB) for Logistics as one of the first steps to implement the dual vocational training program in freight forwarding according to German DIHK standards in Vietnam.

The members of the VB for logistics are representatives of leading international companies in logistics for examples Schenker Vietnam Co. Ldt., Logwin Air + Ocean Vietnam Co. Ldt., Indo Trans Cooperation (ITL), Shipco Transport Vietnam Ldt. etc., Bolloré Logistics Vietnam, Weiss-Rohlig Vietnam Ldt. The Vocational Board for Logistics will give development directions for the dual vocational training program according to German DIHK standard in Vietnam. GIC/AHK Vietnam in collaboration with HCMC University of Transport and nine international leading logistics companies in Vietnam will start a 3-year dual vocational training program in freight forwarding beginning in September 2017 for 15 apprentices per year. After finishing the program, graduators will receive certificate granted by DIHK/AHK Vietnam.

First generation of Bosch apprentices graduates – with the GIC/AHK Vietnam certificates – DIHK Germany standard.

After 3.5 years, the first 17 graduates of the Bosch Training Center (TGA) received their German and Vietnamese certificates for the successful completion of the dual vocational training program in industrial mechanics from GIC/AHK Vietnam, LILAMA2 International Technology College and Bosch Vietnam Co., Ltd. in Dong Nai in April 2017. Bosch TGA is one of the first partnerships under the dual-vocation training framework of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (GIC/AHK Vietnam) (with the DIHK Germany standard). 16 graduates got offered employment contracts by Bosch Vietnam Co., Ltd. right after their graduation. At the moment, Bosch Vietnam Co., Ltd. has 81 apprentices in the two dual vocational training programs in industrial mechanics and mechatronics. 

First generation of DIHK/GIC/AHK apprentices in Chef and Restautant Specialist graduates

This graduation ceremony took place in Ho Chi Minh City on 02nd August 2017. The two vocational training programs combine the theoretical part of the apprenticeship (30% of the training time) with a practical part (appr. 70% of the training time) and last 3 years under the DIHK / GIC/AHK Vietnam vocational training standards and with the implementation of the Vocational Training Center Andrej Majcen and international 5-stars hotels in Ho Chi Minh City. GIC/AHK Vietnam manages and controls the quality, the content of the vocational training as well as the implementation processes. The apprentices received DIHK / GIC/AHK certificate by the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (GIC/AHK Vietnam). 


Graduation Ceremony In Mechatronics In Hung Yen Province


On 10.02.2017, the second 14 Vietnamese mechatronics graduates of Messer and B.Braun have completed the two-year dual training programme in mechatronics and handed a GIC/AHK diploma by the Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam (GIC/AHK Vietnam) . All the graduates will receive permanent employment contracts in the companies of Messer and B. Braun.

Train the Trainer Seminar in August 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City

From 14th to 28th August 2017, the Train the Trainer seminar took place in Ho Chi Minh City under the organization of GIC/AHK Vietnam and with the participation of staff of logistics companies like Schenker Vietnam and Logwin Air + Ocean Vietnam. With this seminar, all participants could gain necessary pedagogical knowledge and skills with practice-oriented exercises that could help them to increase their competence as a trainer in a company. The participants learned to optimize the vocational training process. After passing the theoretical and practical examination and with the evaluation of the experienced experts, the participants received a corporate trainer certificate by the DIHK / GIC/AHK Vietnam. This certificate is one of the necessary requirements for the companies to apply and organize the dual vocational training programs according to the DIHK / GIC/AHK standards. 


TALENTBIZ 2017 – The 2nd German Job Fair in Ho Chi Minh City

Hosted by GIC/AHK Vietnam – Delegate of German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam and GBA – German Business Association, TalentBiz 2017 attracted around 2,000 students and young professionals from various academic backgrounds and offered them a unique opportunity to meet attractive future employers representing well-known German brands in Vietnam.

Besides the chance to get to know the job opportunities, the visitors gained an insight into the German needs in qualified employees and understood their expectation regarding to qualification and skills through the podium discussion. Picture of the event can be found here>>> 


German Networking Event in Da Nang

The Education and Training department of GIC/AHK Vietnam had met German companies, education and training centers and organizations in Danang and its surrounding as well as Danang Investment Promotion Agency during their business trip from 23rd to 24th August 2017, on purpose of informing the companies and institutions about the dual vocational training model with DIHK - Germany standards. Our GIC/AHK education and training experts expected to inform potential partner about this practice-oriented dual vocational training model through this business trip. We assist you gladly in training and further education in order to meet your requirements on qualified workforce in Vietnam.


PRORECOGNITION IN VIETNAM

Info-session: Study, Research & Working in Germany

GIC/AHK Vietnam in cooperation with DAAD Information Center HCMC organized the workshop Study, Research & Working in Germany on July 08, 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City. This workshop provided usefully information about study and conduction research as well as advises on available scholarships in Germany.

Most importantly, the participants were informed about the possibilities of getting their professional qualifications recognized in Germany. Recognition of qualifications is mandatory to be able to work in Germany in regulated professions such as doctors, lawyer, architects, consulting engineers etc. For others, it is helpful for increasing their opportunities for work and integration in the German labour market.  More details on ProRecognition please find here >>>

DIHK-Economic-Survey Fall 2017: German economy remains on course for success

DIHK forecasts an economic growth of the German GDP of 2.2 percent in 2018. For the current year the DIHK increases its economic growth forecast to 2.0 percent (economic growth forecast early summer of the year: 1.8 percent). 

The economy profits from strong domestic demand as well as solid exports. This is an advantage for companies in almost all industries. The situation is particularly positive in the construction sector, where the assessment reaches its highest level for the third time in a row. More here >>>

BADEN-WUERTTEMBERG at METALEX VIETNAM 2017

50 local companies have participated in our seminar on Baden-Wuerttemberg and on its mechanical engineering sector at Metalex Vietnam 2017. The Vietnamese press and media paid their attention and showed their interest in the technology of Germany and the implementation process on the path of Industry 4.0 there.

Marko Walde, Representative of Baden-Wuerttemberg in Vietnam presented the cooperation potential between companies from Vietnam and from this German federal state as well as the supporting activities of Baden-Wuerttemberg representative offices in Vietnam towards companies in Vietnam and in Baden-Wuerttemberg as well. Technical Seminars on Packaging and Printing

The seminars were organised by the German Industry and Commerce Việt Nam, in co-operation with Messe Düsseldorf Asia Pte Ltd to introduce technical developments for printing and packaging, solutions for smart packaging, importance of workflows in a modern print environment, and diversification and individualisation as the future of high-end packaging embellishment. They attracted the participation of nearly 400 domestic enterprises (in Hanoi and in HCMC) in the fields of packaging and printing.More here >>>

GBA Traditional Christmas Dinner in Hanoi – 11.12. 2017


The GBA Traditional Christmas Dinner is our special event in appreciation towards our members in Hanoi. This year dinner received great feedbacks from all 35 attending members. It was indeed a great time to gather and network within the German business community while enjoying a hearty fusion Christmas Goose buffet dinner and a glass of hot Glühwein to warm up from the chilling weather of Hanoi.

GBA Football Cup 2017

The very first GBA Football Cup 2017 is a major hit and a nice family event with special designed activities for the kids! More than 90 players of a large age-range were divided into 8 team led by GBA Board Members competed under beautiful Saturday sun. The football field was burnt up with heat and passion. We of course had a winning team but every participants are a Champion. Save the date and train yourself for the next GBA Football Cup in 24 November 2018! The German Festival Deutschlandfest 2017 in HCMC

On purpose of popularizing Germany and introducing locals to the German businesses, economy, culture, education as well as food and beverage, German consulate in HCMC together with other German organizations such as GIC/AHK Vietnam, GIZ, Goethe Institute, VGU… had organized Deutschlandfest 2017 in the Saigon Zoo on 22nd April 2017.  GIC/AHK Vietnam attracted many attentions of young students and graduates as well as the business people.

We presented there with our hope to build bridges between businesses of 2 countries, between education (dual vocational training) and job as well as to bring Bavaria State closer to the local people in HCMC. More pictures you could find here >>>

Asia Fruit Logistica – Leading trade show for fresh produce


ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA was a hive of business activity last week, with more than 13,000 trade visitors from 76 different countries, including Vietnam, pouring through the doors of AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong on 6-8 September. 22 companies in the fresh produce sector from Vietnam had participated in this trade show as exhibitors to promote Vietnam’s fresh fruits to the region and the world. Visitor numbers were up by 16 per cent on last year’s event, setting a new attendance record. The next edition of ASIA FRUIT LOGISTICA takes place on 5-7 September 2018 at AsiaWorld-Expo Center in Hong Kong. ASIAFRUIT CONGRESS takes place on 4 September at the same venue.

ITB Asia 2017 wraps up 10th anniversary with record highs

Asia’s leading travel trade show, ITB Asia 2017 has completed its milestone anniversary event with record-breaking numbers. Over three days, the event hosted about 940 exhibitors from 113 countries, an 11% increase over the previous year. ITB Asia 2017 also welcomed its strongest ever buyer participation across the Corporate, MICE and Leisure sectors. This year, there were over 22,000 business appointments recorded during the show. Vietnamese exhibitors from tourism industry in Vietnam, including travel agencies, hotels and accommodation as well as tourism association had attended at this trade show as an annual event. ITB Asia 2018 will be held from 17-19 October 2018 at Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands. Interested exhibitors may mail  trang.daothu@vietnam.ahk.de.

ITB Berlin 2017


On March 7, 2017, the world’s leading travel trade show ITB Berlin 2017 themed “Powerful Ideas for Sustainable Success” officially kicked off at the CityCube Berlin, Germany. At the fair, Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in collaboration with Viet Nam Tourism Association and German Industry and Commerce in Vietnam built Viet Nam tourism’s booth with an area of 200m2 with the participation of Departments of Tourism of Ha Noi, Ninh Binh and 32 tourism enterprises. The booth focuses on introducing National Tourism Year 2017 “Northwest Color”. On March 9, Vietnamese delegation organized a press conference introducing Viet Nam tourism and cocktail at the booth; and took part in the launching ceremony of Visit Asean@50.

Vietnam’s dragon fruits introduced at Berlin international fair Fruit Logistica 2017, from February 8-10

On the occasion, Vietnam’s dragon fruits were introduced to visitors and present in an EU support program for cultivating and achieving the exported high-quality standards. Most of dragon fruit cooperatives that participated the program were presented GlobalGAP certificates. During the expo, Vietnamese stalls received a large number of visitors. Local exporters also signed cooperation pacts with Germany’s leading fruit and vegetable distributor Landgard. More information and video you could find here >>>

Fruit Logistica is one of the world’s largest events in the field. This year, the event attracted 3,100 exhibitors from 84 countries worldwide and over 75,000 visitors.

Spielwarenmesse 2017 in Nuremberg

The Spielwarenmesse has strengthened its standing as the world’s leading event for the toy industry. It rewarded 2017 with climb in visitors, successful exhibitors and greater internationality. A total of 73,000 visitors, up 3.2% from 70,714 in 2016, travelled to Nuremberg from 123 nations to view the latest innovations, to engage with other members of the sector and to experience something new.

Vietnamese companies such as Nimbus Bike, Robot Tosy, etc. did participate in this leading toy event.

Schaeffler to expand manufacturing footprint in Vietnam


  • Investment of 55 million Euros in Phase 1 to create 250 jobs by 2019

Schaeffler, the leading global automotive and industrial technology group, is continuing with the strategic expansion of its footprint in Asia Pacific with an investment of 55 million Euros to build a new Greenfield plant in Vietnam that will significantly increase the local manufacturing capacity. The company had organized a ground breaking ceremony for the new Schaeffler Vietnam plant on November 3, 2017.
